Mary King is one of the most admired event riders, she did not come from a privileged background and money was tight. Her first pony was an old cast off from the local vicars children which gave her the will to succeed that drove her into the dangerous sport of 3 day Eventing.
She first competed at Badminton in 1985, had her first win there on King William in 1992 and her second on Star Appeal in 2000. In 2001 she had a terrible fall and broke her neck, but she was back competing again the following year.
