The Preliminary Teaching Test is the first BHS teaching exam. Candidates may sit the exam once they have completed the BHS Stage 2 riding and horse knowledge and care exams. Exemption from Stage 2 riding may be possible in some cases. To attain the full BHS assistant instructor qualification, candidates must also pass the BHS Stage 3 exam in riding and care and complete a portfolio of evidence.
This DVD covers the Preliminary Teaching Test where candidates are expected to deliver a presentation and discuss theory principles as well as teach two sessions. Candidates who register for the *Level 2 UKCC Endorsed Certificate in Coaching will be awarded this certificate when they pass the Preliminary Teaching Test and complete a portfolio of evidence.
Filmed exclusively at Warwickshire College, the DVD is narrated by Patrick Print, who comments at regular intervals throughout the exam on the performances of the individual candidates, highlighting both their strengths and weaknesses. He also talks to the assessors at the end of each section and they offer feedback on various aspects of the exam.
Any prospective candidate will find this series to be an invaluable aid when preparing for BHS examinations.
